There’s so much information out there about the best times, backgrounds, editing techniques, etc. to pay attention to when posting on social media that it can be overwhelming at times. And then once you think you’ve got it all figured out, Instagram goes and changes the algorithm. It’s important to stay on top of the changes and trends and using that information to fine tune your approach. If you feel like your content is getting a little stale, it might be time to reassess your content and social media strategy. It’s easy to get into a groove, but in order to stay relevant and in the feed of your target audience, you don’t want to keep publishing that “same old, same old”. Here’s how to keep your social media strategy feeling new.

  • Refresh – Sure, you’ve had success with this same type of content in the past, but in order to keep moving forward, you need to test out some new content. Mix in some video, new types of blog posts or articles, or posts about your business you’ve never tried before. Get creative and test out some new ideas.
  • Reconnect – No one will ever say no to a new follower or customer, but your social media strategy needs to focus on engaging new and current customers alike. Use your audience to determine what kind of content they like to see, why they follow your business in the first place, and what they’d like to know more about. Social media is about connection and conversation, so get talking and listening.
  • Reinvigorate – Get out of the groove and challenge yourself to try some new tactics. Get excited about your new, refreshed content and why you think your audience will love it. Share some teasers, talk about the process, or show some behind the scenes posts to get your audience excited about it as well.

Think about the last time you were scrolling through your feed and got bored or felt like you had seen it all before. That’s not how you want your audience to feel when viewing your content. The trick is to create and share content that not only slows your audiences’ scroll, but stops them in their tracks. Sharing a scroll-stopping post every time you hit publish might be unachievable, since you have to do what’s best for your business and consistency is important, but it helps when you get out of your groove by mixing in new and different types of posts. Refreshing your content, reconnecting with your audience, and reinvigorating your approach are a few ways to take your social media strategy from stale to stellar.
